Pigeon Forge Cabins

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a popular vacation destination located at one of the main entrances to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most-visited National Park in the United States. This National Park boasts a half million acres of beautiful forest, wildlife, and hiking trails.

About Pigeon Forge

The city of Pigeon Forge was named in 1820 by Isaac Love, who built a forge on the Little Pigeon River. The forge was dismantled five years later, and a mill was built on the land. The Old Mill still exists and operates today. Additionally, many new businesses and attractions have sprung up in response to the growing tourism industry in Pigeon Forge.

Among these attractions is the 125-acre Dollywood theme park, named after country and western singer Dolly Parton. Dollywood is a family-oriented attraction that features amusement park rides as well as crafts and festivals during the year. Another country and western singer, Louise Mandrell, runs a theater in the town.

Staying in Pigeon Forge

With all the entertainment, shopping, and fun in Pigeon Forge, it would be wise to plan at least an overnight stay. Pigeon Forge has more than 8,500 hotel and motel rooms, 600 cabins, condos, and 14 campgrounds. Rent a cabin for the most authentic Pigeon Forge experience.

With so many cabins to choose from, you will want to make a list of criteria to help you choose. Most important, of course, is the availability of the cabin during your planned vacation time. You will also need to know the number of people in your party and how many bedrooms are required.

The cabin's location is also important. You may want something with a mountain or lake view, or one that is in walking distance of your favorite attraction. Additional considerations must be made if you are planning on traveling with a pet, and if you will need parking access for your own vehicle or a rental vehicle. Also, check with the owner or manager of the cabin to see what amenities are provided; most cabins are furnished, but verify what appliances and cookware are available for your use.

Private Rentals in Pigeon Forge

Renting your Pigeon Forge from a private party might offer an excellent value. However, seriously consider renting through a management company. Many of these companies have Web sites with photographs and details of the cabins they offer. Additionally, many accept payments through credit cards, which gives you some recourse in the unlikely event that the cabin is not as advertised. In any case, be sure to obtain a rental agreement in writing that covers the important details.
