Advertising is key to capitalism as it creates a medium for the seller to market and promote their products. Consumers in America see hundreds of different ads everyday. From fast-food, to the latest electronic gadget, to promotions for the newest shoes and movies, there is advertising for every product imaginable. Companies realize that the best way to inform potential customers about their offerings is through advertising. The advertising may come in a variety of different mediums: television, newspapers, billboards, the internet and radio. Each one of these mediums is a primary means of informing consumers about products. Behind each one of these different advertising methods is an advertising agency developing and producing the advertisement.

The Make-up of the Typical Advertising Agency

On average, advertising agencies can be divided into four different departments. Traditionally, these agencies are made up of an account services department, a media department, a research department, and a creative department. Each of these serves a different role in the organization. The mission of these firms is to produce quality advertisements for their clients. As a result, the advertisements should drive sales, create an increased in awareness, and the firm's profits should go up.
