Banners

Banners or banner ads are used on the Internet to promote products. Banners are usually graphics, either static or animated, that are really just a fancy link. When a viewer clicks on the banner, they are redirected to the advertiser's website, just as they would be if there was merely a text link. Many companies make money by publishing other companies' banners on their websites.

Banner Dimensions

There are eight different sizes used for banners. The sizes are given in pixels, the tiny blocks of color that make up an image on the computer screen.

There are two types of full banners. First, there is the normal full banner, which is 486 pixels by 60 pixels. This is the type of banner we find most often when searching online. There is also a full banner with a scroll bar down the side. These are 392 pixels by 72 pixels.
