Clipping Service Continued…

Print Clipping Service – Provides clipping services in the areas of print media, including newspapers, magazines, trade publications, newsletters, and more. While most companies focus on national media outlets, there are others that specialize in international media.

Broadcast Clipping Service – Provides clipping services in the areas of broadcast media, including television, radio, cable, satellite broadcasts, and more.

Internet Clipping Service – Provides clipping services that target the Internet, newsgroups, forums, and other online media. These companies use a combination of technology and search engines to locate relevant information on the Internet.

The Process

Clipping services have the ability to provide a thorough search of media outlets. One of their biggest benefits is that they save people time because they do all of the legwork. Business executives, chief executive officers and senior managers can profit from the services of a clipping company. The process, which can occur on a daily, weekly or yearly basis, includes the following steps:
  1. The client determines the search criteria, providing information about the subject, frequency search and desirable mediums.
  2. Readers scan printed materials for references matching the criteria of the client.
  3. They track coverage in various media outlets, such as daily and non-daily newspapers; trade, consumer and professional magazines; newsletters; and newswire services. Additional services include scanning radio and television broadcasts as well as online sources.
  4. The clips are then collected and sent to the client with information about the publication in which they appeared.

Differences of Clipping Service Companies

Although there are many clipping service companies available to consumers, there are some factors that set them apart from each other. First, different companies sometimes offer different types of coverage. For example, national companies cover more sources than regional or state companies, and smaller companies typically cover local outlets on a more extensive level. Second, the service fees can also vary from one company to the next. For example, one company might charge $100 to $300 each month (plus $1 for each individual clipping), while some Internet-based companies might charge a lot less.
