Closed Circuit TV Continued…

Besides prisons, CCTV also works as an excellent deterrent to theft and robbery. It is estimated that there are approximately ten million workers who work under a CCTV system everyday. Because large, international cities are now doing more to prevent crime and terror, CCTV systems can now be found in many busy, public places across the developed world. The number of people watched as a result of CCTV grows daily, with the end result being a safer world for us all.

The Legalities of CCTV

Because CCTV is essentially recording life as it happens in a given spot, there are many controversies surrounding its usage. Many people believe using CCTV surveillance in the workplace is an invasion of privacy, specifically a violation of their civil rights. Many employers on the other hand disagree. The debate continues today in courts and in the workplace over when it is and when it is not permissible to use CCTV.

Besides of privacy issue, the other issue that deems discussion is: Do CCTV systems really prevent and solve crimes?” There have been instances in the past where crimes have been committed on camera and the perpetrator was never caught. Besides not stopping crime, these instances also didn't prevent the crime from happening through the placement of a camera. One has to wonder after instances like these whether the usage of CCTV is even appropriate.

By properly researching all of your options and then testing your options to see what you trust the most, the right decision can be made when deciding upon CCTV systems. CCTV at heart is about personal safety. A decision this important requires much deliberation.
