Computer Rooms Continued…

The next thing to consider is the monitor. LCD monitors are both very popular, and quickly coming down in price. These flat panel monitors take up very little space, especially when compared to the behemoths CRT monitors.

A computer room wouldn't be complete without the desk, of course. Tastes may vary, but a sturdy oak desk or fashionable metal computer desk works well. Desks that are made with computer usage in mind – which seems to be most of them nowadays – often have numerous compartments for accessories. Adequate desk space is also a must, helping you to dig through the piles of papers.

Printers, scanners, and similar devices can be placed in their respective compartments, or nearby. Placing printers and scanners underneath the desk can sometimes cause problems with accessibility, defeating the whole point of a comfortable computer room!

Finally, get a comfortable chair. You might not think this is a such a big deal, but with the amount of time you could be spending at the computer, back support is a must. Medical problems stemming from bad posture in your seat can come back to haunt you, so it's best to be careful and comfortable.

Don't forget the decorations!

The rest of the computer room can use some attention as well. Pictures, custom lighting, wood paneling – you name it, it's been used in a computer room. Have some fun with it, especially if you're going to be spending a lot of time in here.
