Graphic Designers

A graphic designer is an artist trained to create and manipulate images and designs for mass production. These artists work in a range of media, from websites to print images to fully realized products. Within every industry, graphic designers literally shape the way in which products and services are marketed, built, packaged, and explained to the public. These individuals make up the creative backbone of every marketing department, publication, and web design firm. If his or her skills are correctly utilized, a graphic designer can help a company to develop a new image, solidify its existing brand image, and effectively communicate its goals and products to its customers.

Types of Graphic Designers

As with any general career category, graphic designers specialize in different types of design. Some of the most common specializations include web design, print and publication design, and product design.

While the tools and skills required for these are similar, they each have important distinctions between each.
