Mailing Labels

Mailing Labels

Mailing or shipping products is a time consuming endeavor for many businesses. Businesses can save much of this time by using mailing labels.

Addressing Mailing Labels

Sometimes the way that businesses put information on mailing labels can affect the shipping of their mail and packages. Needless to say, having the correct address on a mailing label will help a letter or package be delivered in timely manner. The addition of the 4 code numbers to a zip code can help expedite a shipment. Addresses should be printed or typed so that they can be clearly seen from at least an arm's length away. The United States Postal Services also suggests that businesses and individuals use their approved acronym and abbreviations list and leave out punctuation such as commas and periods.

United States Postal Service and Mailing Labels

With a one-time software download, the USPS offers businesses Click ‘n Ship, where users can register at no additional charge to create mailing labels which include postage. Click ‘n Ship can be used to send Express Mail and Priority Mail domestically and Global Express Mail, Global Priority Mail, and Global Airmail Parcel Post internationally. Businesses can also use this service to pay insurance and to keep track of its shipping and mailing history. Services can be paid via credit card.

The United States Postal Service also offers the USPS Shipping Assistant. Not only can businesses print out shipping or mailing labels, businesses can include labels for delivery confirmation and signature confirmation. This service can send out email notifications to customers when their letters or packages have been sent.

Mailing Labels Software

There are a number of companies that offer software so that businesses can customize their mailing labels to their own specifications using mail merge capabilities. Software packages might also include the ability to print business cards, name badges, envelopes, file folder labels, and postcards. Also included might be graphics, backgrounds, and textures. Most mailing label software packages are very easy to use. Most allow printing of custom labels, non-U.S. addresses, import/export, and bulk mailing. Some mailing label software even supports lists of an unlimited number of names and address records.
