Semiconductors

Semiconductors are probably something you've heard of, but you might not know how important they are in our lives. Semiconductors are used in anything that is either computerized or uses radio waves. In short, a great deal of what we interact with on a daily basis use semiconductors.

What is a semiconductor?

Semiconductors are made out of many materials, primarily silicone, and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The most important attribute of a semiconductor is a rather interesting one: they can only be somewhat of an electrical conductor, and somewhat of an insulator. That is where it derives the 'semi' part of its name from.
