Television advertising, known also as commercials, was ushered into our lives during the late-1940s when television sets first became commonplace in the home. It has become so much a part of modern culture that people accept television advertising as an integral part of their daily routine.

Some industry studies estimate that adults view an average of four hours per day, during which time viewers become a captive audience to television advertising. While television advertising is not inexpensive, television has been shown to be the primary medium where consumers were most likely to learn about new products and develop brand loyalty.
